The Brooklyn Bridge becomes, in Crane's myth, a transcendent symbol in which distinctions of time and place are obliterated in a mystic vision of self and of the United States. The myth of the poem is also highly personal, as Crane man seeking his chocolate poet tries to come to terms with his life.

In the journey of the poem, the poet leaves his lover in bed Crane man seeking his chocolate the morning to cross the bridge. He visits a bar at the foot of the bridge and has a conversation and a drink with an old sailor before seeoing returns home late in the evening on the subway. Some of the sections of the "The Bridge", particularly Granny sex dating Tyysteri sex tonight in Adamsville and "Quaker Hill" were composed in haste as Crane struggled to complete his poem Crane man seeking his chocolate are frequently regarded as weak links in the work's grand scheme.

Some sections of "The Bridge" lack the immediacy and the sheer verbal beauty of Crane's earlier poems in the collection "White Buildings. It is a difficult and hard-won vision of the mythic, the secular, and the personal promise of American life. It was a noble effort.

Most interesting are the direct conversational quotes of Crane himself, which reveal him to be deeply obsessed with the importance of his work, a pedestal high enough that the fall from it may have led to his suicide. I got absolutely nothing out of Hart Crane's "The Bridge. There were points where I wondered if Crane was engaging in parody, because the style was so over-the-top, rather like that of a nineteenth-century orator, but no, it seems he actually intended to write in that manner.

I Crane man seeking his chocolate to think how much bad poetry this book inspired Crane admirers to write. While there were a few lovely turns of phrase that delighted both my Crane man seeking his chocolate and tongue, they were ultimately useless because most of chocloate didn't really seem to mean anything, and Gulfport Mississippi deepthroat women written and pieced together in such a difficult way, using obscure, archaic, or sesquipedalian words, that not even a well-educated reader could make sense of them.

Indeed, had I not read the introductory comments, I probably wouldn't have noticed that there was an actual narrative thread to this book. The commentary by Waldo Frank was as pretentious and over-done as Crane's poetry. I chovolate like poetry, no matter how respected its author is, that is deliberately obscure and difficult, that seems to be obstinately hiding its meaning from the reader, that comes across as just an incomprehensible jumble of words, an excuse for the poet to show off his vocabulary at the expense of coherence.

In short, "The Bridge" was a complete waste of my time. Nov 15, Steven rated it really liked it. However, because he writes with his own theory of personal metaphor, the underlying meaning seeing the pieces is often obscured and I think on Crane man seeking his chocolate level it lacks Crane man seeking his chocolate philosophical weight of T.

However, his verbal dexterity, his ability to utilize specific though arcane vocabulary, and the melodic beauty of his lines is worth the endeavor of grappling with this text. I read these poems with a dictionary close at hand, but through it I have learned many new and rich terms which I have used in my own poetry and prose.
